Used Four Wheel Pop-up Camper Fit Guide
Please Note: This list is only designed to help assist you in your research about older, "USED" Four Wheel Campers. Model sizes, camper widths, and designs have changed many times over the years, some older campers have customizations done to them we might not know about, and over the years continued to change a little. Truck beds have changed quite a bit as well (different tail gate opening sizes, different lengths, different bed depths, and different truck cab heights). Four Wheel Campers are always changing to the adapt to the newest truck variations. The charts below are a "general" used camper fit guide. Every old camper & truck combination is not listed below. Older Four Wheel Campers were typically wider and might not fit your newer truck!!

Used "Full Sized" Four Wheel Pop-up Campers Built "Before" 1990 Will Typically Only Fit The Following Trucks:
-
Chevy & GMC Trucks built in 1988 or older (Ex: 1988 Chevy. 1987 Chevy, 1986 Chevy, Etc.)
-
Dodge RAM Trucks built in 1993 or older (Ex: 1993 Dodge Ram, 1992 Dodge Ram, 1991 Dodge Ram, Etc.)
-
Ford F-150 Trucks built in 1996 or older (Ex: 1996 Ford F-150, 1995 Ford F-150, 1994 Ford F-150, Etc.)
-
Ford F-250 / F-350 Trucks built in 1998 or older (Ex: 1998 Ford F-250/350, 1997 Ford F-250/350, 1996 Ford F-250/350, Etc.)
From 1972 — 1989 the Four Wheel Pop-up Campers had a really wide camper base (the portion of the camper that sits in the truck bed). Because of this, most of the 1972 — 1989 Four Wheel Campers won't
fit in the newer trucks.
Approx. 1990 the camper base on the Four Wheel Pop-up Campers were narrowed down to 60", to fit on some of the newer trucks that were coming out back then (trucks with a narrower tail gate opening).
Used "Full Sized" Four Wheel Pop-up Campers Built "After" 1990 Will Usually Only Fit The Following Trucks
Most Chevy / GMC Trucks (Up Until 2007 Models): The newer 2007 body style Chevy & GMC trucks have a narrower tail gate opening than older years of the Chevy/GMC trucks. The general rule of thumb is that if you own a 2007 or newer Chevy or GMC and are looking for an older "used" four wheel camper, you will need to find a used four wheel camper that was built in 2002 or newer. In 2002, the FWC's were narrowed down again to approx. 58" for the camper base (the portion of the camper that sits in the truck bed, between the tail gate opening), On the Hawk and Grandby Model, the camper base that sits between the wheel humps in the truck bed has always be 48" wide. The measurement between the wheel well humps has not been much of a fit issue for us over the years. It's been pretty consistent at 48" wide. But narrowing the camper base that sits in the tail gate opening area was needed so our campers would fit in most of the newest trucks being introduced at that time. Always make sure you take careful measurements of your truck bed and used camper before you buy it, so that you know it will fit.
Most Dodge Trucks (except 1994): For the 1994 Dodge Ram Trucks, follow the Tundra fit application (due to the narrow tail gate opening). The newest Dodge Ram trucks with the "rambox cargo management system" will NOT be a good choice, as the four wheel campers will NOT fit in the Dodge Ram trucks with the new "rambox cargo management system". Always make sure you take careful measurements of your truck bed and used camper before you buy it, so that you know it will fit.
Most Ford F-150 Trucks: On the 2004 — 2020 Ford F-150 trucks, a small 2" platform will usually be needed if you are putting an older FWC on a newer Ford F-150, because these trucks have a deeper truck bed. Always make sure you take careful measurements of your truck bed and used camper before you buy it, so that you know it will fit.
Most Ford F-250 / F-350 Trucks up until 1998 (if you have a 1999-2015 Ford F-250 / F-350 you will have to build a small 2" or 3" platform for the used campers to sit on. (those trucks have a tal ler cab height). Always make sure you take careful measurements of your truck bed and used camper before you buy it, so that you know it will fit.
Some newer Toyota Tundra trucks (2007 — 2020): The older Tundra trucks have a very narrow tail gate opening, and the older used four wheel campers usually will not fit the First Generation Toyota Tundra trucks. The newer generation of Tundra trucks (2007 — 2020) have a deeper truck bed, and a little wider tail gate opening. If you can find a used FWC that will fit your new generation Tundra, some modifications might be needed for proper fit (adding a small 2" platform under the camper, to accommodate the deep truck bed on the Tundra). Always make sure you take careful measurements of your truck bed and used camper before you buy it, so that you know it will fit.
Some Nissan Titan trucks: Most of the older, used four wheel campers are quite wide. If you can find a used FWC that will fit your Nissan Titan, some FWC's from modifications might be needed for proper fit. Always 1990 - 2001 make sure you take careful measurements of your need a truck truck bed and the used camper before you buy it, so that has at that you know it will fit. least a 60" wide tail gate opening
Used "Full Sized" Four Wheel Pop-up Campers Built "After" 2002 Will Usually Fit The Following Trucks
Most Chevy / GMC Trucks: Always make sure you take careful measurements of your truck bed and used camper before you buy it, so that you know it will fit.
Most Dodge RAM Trucks: The only exception: the newest Dodge Ram trucks with the "Rambox Cargo Management System" will NOT be a good choice, as the four wheel campers will NOT fit in the Dodge Ram trucks with the new "rambox cargo management system". Besides that, always make sure you take careful measurements of your truck bed and used camper before you buy it, so that you know it will fit.
Most Ford F-150 Trucks: On the 2004 — 2020 Ford F-150 trucks, a small 2" platform under the camper will "usually" be needed because these trucks have a deeper truck bed. Always make sure you take careful measurements of your truck bed and used camper before you buy it, so that you know it will fit.
Most Ford F-250 / F-350 Trucks: On the 1999 — 2020 Ford F250 / F-350 a small platform will "usually" be needed under the camper because these trucks have a taller truck cab. Always make sure you take careful measurements of your truck bed and used camper before you buy it, so that you know it will fit.
Toyota Tundra trucks: Always make sure you take careful measurements of your truck bed and used camper before you buy it, so that you know it will fit. The older Tundra trucks have a very narrow tail gate opening and a shallower truck bed. The newer generation of Tundra trucks (2007 — 2020) have a deeper truck bed, and a little wider tail gate opening. If you can find a used FWC that will fit your new generation Tundra, some modifications might be needed for proper fit. Usually, a small 2" thick platform under the camper will help fit the camper to fit the deeper bed on the newer Toyota Tundra. Always make sure you take careful measurements of your truck bed and used camper before you buy it, so that you know it will fit.

Some Nissan Titan trucks: Most of the older, used Four Wheel campers are quite wide. If you can find a used FWC that will fit your Nissan Titan, some modifications might be needed for proper fit. Always make sure you take careful measurements of your truck bed and the used camper before you buy it, so that you know it will fit.
