Truck to Camper Wiring Install (Pre-3/20/2023)
Step by step guide to wire Truck to Camper for all campers made prior to 3/20/2023
Camper Wiring Only (Truck-to-Camper)
Wiring Instructions
The camper power wire will hook to the truck battery with the white wire on the positive & the black wire on the negative post. The outer (grey) protective cover on the wires will need to be split and the white wire will need to be cut and hooked to the thermal breaker, with the black wire running past the thermal breaker over to the negative post on your truck battery. Follow the steps below to hook up the system.
NOTE: Please check each individual camper to find out what side of the truck bed your power plug will need to be mounted (driver's or passenger). On most campers, the electrical plug will be located on the front / driver's side corner, but there are a few exceptions.
Step 1
Under the hood of your truck, find a place on the firewall to mount the thermal breaker. Be sure to place the breaker on the same side as the power wire will be run. Example, if your power plug is mounted on the driver's side in your truck bed, you will want to install the thermal breaker on the firewall on the driver's side in the engine compartment.

Step 2
Inside the truck bed on the sidewall, near the front of the bed, find a flat place for the female side of the plug to sit flat against the sidewall with at least 2-h inches clear space behind the sidewall. Drill a 1 1/8" hole in the side of the bed wall; do not drill through the outside of the bed. (Note drilling through the bed makes hot metal shavings. You should wear long sleeves and a face shield).

Step 3
Run the grey 10 gage wiring through the hole you drilled, along the top of the frame under your truck, up into your engine compartment, past the thermal breaker you installed on the firewall, and over to the to the truck battery terminals.

Step 4
Split the outer cover on the grey 10 gage wiring (the grey wire that houses 2 wires, 1 white wire & 1 black wire) at the truck battery back about 6". Strip the protective cover on the ends of the white and black wires back about 1/4" and then crimp on the ring connectors. Hook the black wire to the ground post of the battery, but do not hook up the white wire yet.

Step 5
At the thermal breaker you installed on the firewall, split the outer grey wire covering and cut the white wire only. Crimp on the ring terminals on both ends of the white wire you cut, and hook one to each post on the thermal breaker.

Step 6
Wire tie the grey 10 gage wiring to the fire wall of the engine compartment with the nylon zip ties, working out any slack in the cable towards the truck bed. Keep the wires away from any moving components or parts that might get hot.
Step 7
Wire tie the grey 10 gage wire to the frame back to the truck bed, and work out any slack in the wire.
Step 8
Pull the wire tight through hole you drilled inside your truck bed. Measure about 4" of the wire from the truck bed and cut any extra wire off.
Step 9
Strip about 1" of the outer (grey) protective cover off the end of the 10-2 wires. Then strip 3/8" of the outer cover off each end of the white and black wires.
Step 10
On the back of the female Atwood camper plug that you are installing in the truck bed, connect the "Black" wire (negative wire) you just ran from the truck battery, to the "Black" wire on the back of the female Atwood camper plug, Next, on the back of the female plug that you are installing in the truck bed, connect the "White" wire (positive wire) you just ran from the truck battery, to the "Yellow" wire on the back of the female Atwood camper plug. Using black electrical tape, properly cover any exposed wires or wiring.
Step 11
Connect a 3rd wire (usually a small green wire) to the "Light Blue" wire on the back of the female Atwood plug you are going to install inside the truck bed, and then hook this in to your rear truck tail light wiring somewhere. This "small green wire" will be hooked up to the wire that is "hot" when your truck's head lights are "ON", the small LED marker lights on the outside of the camper will automatically come on.

Step 12
Connect the male Atwood camper plug to the external wiring that comes out of the front / driver's side corner (exterior) of the camper (if it is not already installed when you get the camper from the factory). The "Black" wire on the back of the male Atwood camper plug hooks up to the "Black" wire coming out of the front / driver's side corner (exterior) of the camper. The "Yellow" wire on the back of the male Atwood camper plug hooks up to the "White" wire coming out of the front / driver's side corner (exterior) of the camper. The "Light Blue" wire on the back of the male Atwood camper plug hooks up to the "Small Green Wire" wire coming out of the camper.

Step 13
Go to the truck battery and hook up the white wire to the positive post of the battery.
