Factors Impacting Furnace Performance

  1. Altitude – Higher than 8,000’ reduces air flow
  2. Propane – Ensure tanks are filled, open, and can light stove
  3. Thermostat – Check batteries (if digital) to ensure they are not dead
  4. Thermostat - Should “click” and start the furnace fan when turned on
  5. Ducting Air Flow Constrained – If camper production date prior to 12/20 inquire about retrofit furnace vent that can be sent to improve ducting air flow.
  6. Sail Switch – Hair or fuzz on switch can be disabling if furnace fan comes on, but furnace doesn't ignite, find your sail switch and clean it (only applies to the newer FWC furnace we have been using, 2016 and newer, see above video link).
  7. Reset Switch - If furnace fan comes on, but furnace doesn't ignite, find the small "reset" switch inside the furnace and “reset” it.
  8. Wiring – Remove furnace cover and inspect wiring. Ensure all of the wires inside are connected and haven’t wiggled loose. Grab each wire, gently wiggle it, and gently try and make sure it is pushed on tightly.
  9. Battery Voltage – Needs to be 12.2 Volts or above make sure your 12V deep cycle camper battery(s) are fully charged up (resting at 12.2V or better – a full camper battery usually has a resting voltage around 12.7V or 12.8V), or plug the camper into 120V shore power electricity, example: plug your camper into your garage power outlet (for testing purposes).
  10. Circuit Board – If all above has been inspected and the source of the problem not identified, the circuit board may be the problem. FWC factory and many dealers inventory the circuit boards. Please contact us to discuss.
