Project M Bug Screen Installation

Tools Needed: Drill w/ standard Philips head, measuring tape, pencil

1. Prepare camper for installation.

a. Remove any items that may obstruct install of bug screen to rear of camper such as fire extinguisher, fuse panel or power components.

2. Orient bug screen correctly while inside camper with roof popped up.

a. Ensure that zipper pull side of bug screen is facing inward.

b. Rigid strip is at the top.

c. Be sure all (6) screws are still affixed to rigid strip and undo any button from screw so there is access to the screw head.

d. Align bug screen with rear of camper above hatch door.

3. Align the bug screen.

a. Measure 2 inches down from plastic trim piece next to lift panel hinge and make a mark, measure from other side of lift panel to make second mark.

b. Align top edge of bug screen with the 2 marks. Check that rigid top strip is level.

c. Align left (passenger side) vertical edge of the bug screen to the very back left corner of the camper.

d. Be sure that the 2 short top Velcro hold straps are sticking up between rear camper wall and rigid top strip.

4. Attach bug screen.

a. Starting from left corner use screws that are preinstalled on rigid top strip to screw into camper frame.

b. Continue to the right until all 6 screws are attached.

c. Tip: Drill until you feel screw go into frame, then reverse screw just a bit, finally screw all the way in. This prevents separating of wall and frame.

d. Do not torque screws but should be firmly attached.

5. Attach side straps and support screws.

a. Make sure that left (passenger side) vertical edge is aligned with left corner of camper and bottom of edging is pulled taught downward.

b. Measure 2 inches down from rear bottom strut mount then 2 inches in.

c. Screw in strap with button end facing toward rear hatch through bug screen edging fabric.

d. Repeat on driver’s side.

e. You may use additional screw provided for additional support.

6. Re-attach any removed items that were removed for install. This may help secure bug screen edging.

7. Using the bug screen.

a. To use bug screen zip sides, allow screen to hang fully down and center magnets to engage. Screen is gusseted to allow for use of the zippers.

b. Stow away by snapping bottom button to top, roll screen to top, then use Velcro straps to secure screen up out of the way.

c. Stow to the side by parting magnets, father screen to each side of the camper, and use side button straps to secure screen out of the way.
